Fertilization Report!!! 3-30-09

Hey guys! Well... as promised... we just HAD to update ya'll on the great news we just received from our IVF nurse:

We have 10 fertilized eggs!!! Yay!

This is actually the exact number that we have been praying for. =) We limited the number of eggs to be exposed to 15. Statistically speaking, usally 70% of the eggs exposed will fertilize (for my 'age bracket'), and then ~ 40-50% of these fertilized eggs grow into mature viable embryos. So this gives us a great chance to have several viable embryos to be able to transfer (at some point). Please praise the LORD with us!

So for now, we will just go one day at a time. We start the 'hatching meds' tomorrow and the progesterone injections. We have to be ready to go in for the transfer Wed (which would be 'Day 3 Transfer'), just in case... but most likely, if we even get to do the transfer, it would be Friday ('Day 5'). So far, we have not encountered any major signs of serious hyperstimulation. With Dr. Hansard dropping my Follistim dose, how well the surgery went yesterday, and how it is going today, we are ecstatically rejoicing that 'so far so good'!!! There is still time for the hyperstimulation to show itself, and if you were to do the transfer and become pregnant, the hcG hormone (pregnancy hormone) tends to kind of shoot things through the roof... so we'll just have to re-evaluate and monitor each day as we approach Friday, lean on God's understanding and wisdom, and pray for discernement for our doctor.

Thank you so much for all of your prayers. They have been answered in Mighty ways! We pray this kind of progress continues!
